Pocket gamma spectrometer
Characteristics
The identiFINDER R425 delivers a significant increase in performance and advanced communication capabilities, quickly becoming the best-selling detector in its category once again, following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the identiFINDER R400. The R400 was the world’s best-selling handheld instrument for measuring radiation levels, locating radiation sources, and identifying radionuclides.
The identiFINDER R425 is a worthy successor. Its development involved an extensive period of engineering and practical field testing at numerous locations and across a wide range of organizations, with more than 10,000 hours of testing. R425 retains all the key advantages of the previous R400 while offering significantly higher sensitivity for both gamma radiation and neutrons, a more compact design, longer battery operation of up to 16 hours with hot-swap battery replacement, and increased ruggedness.
The instrument is fully IP67-rated, including the ability to be decontaminated by immersion in a decontamination agent, and offers enhanced drop resistance. It also introduces a range of modern features, including communication with smartphones and tablets and fully featured remote, unattended operation.
A dedicated mobile application for identiFINDER R425 is now freely available for smartphones and tablets running Android and iOS. The application enables easy wireless retrieval of data from the instrument, including spectra and alarms, rapid transmission of data to remote servers, and complete remote control of the instrument. A virtual display of the instrument is shown directly in the application, significantly enhancing operator safety by eliminating the need for the operator to remain at the measurement location throughout the measurement in an area with elevated radiation levels.
